A service elector is a citizen of India who can vote under the service category. They are people who are usually posted somewhere else for service or employment. Hence, they may not be available at their residence. The following people constitute the members of the service category.
Only voter IDs are issued to service voters and not voter ID cards. This is because service voters vote via a proxy or are assigned postal ballots. They don’t have to produce the card at any polling station, so a card is not necessary.
