Voting is the most important right and responsibility of any citizen in a democratic country. The citizens of India can enroll in the election roll of the country throughout the year. Once the election dates are announced, the last date to enroll in the voting list to be eligible to vote in the upcoming election is 3 weeks prior to the polling date. The applicant has to fill in the required form and submit the same to the Election Commission of India through online mode, semi-online mode or offline mode. The online mode includes submitting the application and the relevant supporting documents online. The semi online and offline mode includes online application and submitting the print of the application with supporting documents at the applicable remote office of ECI or personally going to the applicable remote office of the ECI and submitting the application and relevant documents there respectively.
The eligible applicants have to submit the forms based on different criteria according to the nature of their application. This includes whether the applicant is applying for the Voter ID for the first time or if the applicant is a resident or an NRI or if the applicant is applying for a change in the particulars of the Voter ID.
The list of Voter ID forms that are available for the applicants to fill is stated below. The applicants have to select the correct form that is applicable to them and submit the same after duly filing it along with the necessary supporting documents.

The above forms are available in Hindi and English and can be downloaded from the official website of The Election Commission of India.
The forms can be submitted either online as well as through offline mode. The applicant can also track the application status via the application number provided upon successful submission of the application of the Voter ID form.

No. In such a case, the voter has to apply for change in the Voter ID i.e., in the address of the residence via Form 8A. Fresh application of Voter ID is not required.
