Introduction

Digital economy has been a pivotal vision of the Government of India and has been the centre of focus for the last few years. Along with digital banking, the government also needs to adopt digital platforms as a way to dispense various government services. This will enable the citizens to avoid the long queues and all the hassles that they usually face to acquire any Government services whether in relation to the local government, state government or central government.

To achieve this objective, the Government of India has therefore launched the Umang App. The app acts like a one stop shop for getting all the services of the Government on a single portal. Given below are the details of the Umang App and the services provided on this portal as well as other relevant details regarding the same.

What is the Umang app?

Umang stands for the Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance Application. It was developed by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

The vision behind the launch of this application was to implement mobile governance in our country. This platform can be used to receive various services from local governments, state governments as well as the central government. Customers have to login to this portal using the user id and password. Once they have successfully logged into the portal, they can access multiple services of the government which would have traditionally been very cumbersome and time consuming.

This mobile application can be used for a number of government services like filing the Income Tax Return, for queries pertaining to the Aadhaar and Provident Fund, booking of a gas cylinder, availing services of the Passport Seva and many such other services.

EPFO 

Users can use this app to monitor the EPF account balance, pension balance by using the OTP and the registered mobile number

Gas booking Service

Umang App allows the users to book a new gas connection or a refill for an existing gas connection. Other services include surrendering the connection, or booking a second connection, etc.

Aadhaar Card

Users can view as well as download the Aadhaar card from their Digilocker Account.

NPS

Umang App allows the users to check their Tier 1 and Tier 2 account balances through the password and PRAN

Paying Income Tax

Umang App can also be used to pay income tax, self assessment tax, as well as track the Tax payment challan.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

Umang App is integrated with the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and provides financial services across the country.

E-Raktkosh

How to download the Umang app?

Umang App is available as a digital app and a mobile application. This application can be downloaded on Android as well as iPhones. This application can be downloaded from the Google Playstore for the Android Phones and the Apple store for the Iphones.

Registration and Login Process for Umang App

The registration on the Umang Application is mandatory to use this portal. Customers can register to the portal as it is very simple and can be done instantly within minutes. Post registration, the customers can login to the Umang Application and can use this platform for numerous government services.

The registration process for the Umang application is mentioned below.

  • First step is to download the application from any of the available option mentioned above
  • After this, the next step is to open the app and click on the “Register” option.
  • Next, the user will need to fill in basic information like full name, mobile number, etc.
  • Following that, the user will have to enter the mobile number to be verified
  • This verification will be done via an OTP sent to the mobile number provided. 
  • Users will have to agree to the terms and conditions mentioned in the application to complete the registration process.

How to use Umang App to withdraw from EPF?

Umang App can be used to withdraw money from the EPF account of the user. This facility can be availed by all the registered users and can be done through a single login. The process involved in withdrawal of money from EPF is detailed below.

  • First step is to login using the login details and OTP or password associated with the login id.
  • After that the next step is to select the ‘EPF’ Option.
  • Next step is to select the option ‘Employee Centric’ and then select ‘Raise Claim’
  • After that the user will have to enter the EPF UAN number to proceed.
  • This will send an OTP to the registered mobile number of the user.
  • After this, the user will have to select the Online EPF withdrawal claim and submit the same through Umang App.
  • Users will get a reference number that will be needed to track the EPF Claim.
