Debt Funds
Debt-oriented schemes are referred to as Income schemes. Since these schemes invest primarily in debt securities such as bonds, debentures, government securities, returns offered are more stable than those of equity-oriented schemes. It is for this very reason that debt-oriented schemes are preferred by low and medium-risk investors such as retired persons who are unwilling to invest in high-risk equity and such instruments.
While debt-oriented schemes are more stable than equities, they tend to fluctuate more than money market schemes and are subject to a higher credit risk than gilt funds, which mainly invest in government debt. Here are a few debt funds from Sahara Mutual Fund.
