Once a PAN card is issued to you, you need to check if all the information in it is correct. Below is a list of parameters that should be correct and if wrongly mentioned, you need to take urgent steps to correct it:

1. Visit the Protean official website.
2. Select 'PAN' under Services.
3. Select the "Apply" option within the 'Change/Correction in PAN Data' section.
4. Fill out the online application – select the appropriate application type and category.
5. Enter personal details like name, date of birth, email, and mobile number and submit. You will receive a token number which can be used to access the draft application in case of a time-out.
6. Click on the option to continue with the PAN Application Form.
7. You will be given 3 options – 1. to submit all documents digitally through e-KYC and e-sign, 2. To submit scanned images through e-sign and 3. Submit application documents physically.
8. Select the option of Yes or No if you need a new physical PAN card.
9. Fill in additional details and tick the relevant box where the update is required.
10. Update your address and proceed to the next page.
11. Upload the necessary documents including your photograph.
12. Submit the declaration, and Aadhaar details and make the payment to receive the payment confirmation.
13. Complete the e-sign process, authenticate it using the OTP received on your mobile, and submit the online PAN application form.
14. Proceed with e-KYC verification, enter your Aadhaar number to complete the Aadhaar-based e-sign. You need to have the phone number registered with your Aadhaar for completing this as the OTP for e-sign will be sent to that number.
15. You can now download the acknowledgment form which can be opened with a password, which is your date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format.
16. Instead of e-KYC, you can also opt to do a physical KYC and send the form along with physical proof of documents to the NSDL e-Gov office.
1. Visit the UTIITSL website and navigate to PAN Card Services.
2. Select Apply and then 'Change/Correction in PAN Card'. Select Apply for Change/ Correction in PAN Card details in the new window.
3. Select the relevant mode of application and submission of documents.
4. Enter the details requested like name, address, and other details.
5. Provide the details of the mismatch and select appropriate checkboxes.
6. Complete the verification, upload the documents, and click on Submit.
7. You will be directed to make the payment and submit the application.
8. It takes approximately 15 days for the correction/update process.

A request for a PAN card name correction is one of the most common change requests submitted and it could be because of wrong spelling, legal name change, or change after marriage.
The process for a PAN card name correction online is the same as given above – visit the Protean or UTIITSL site, initiate a request to make the correction, enter the necessary details for correction, make the payment, and upload the necessary supporting documentation. You will receive an acknowledgment number or coupon number which will help you keep track of the status of the submitted application.
Once you apply for a correction, you might want to check the status of your application. Follow the steps below on the Protean site to check the correction status:
1. Visit the Protean PAN/TAN Application Status page.

To check the status on the UTIITSL site, follow the below steps:

Yes, you can track your PAN card correction status through SMS if you've applied for PAN card corrections through the Protean web portal. You need to send an SMS with your PAN acknowledgment number to 57575.
2. How much fee should I pay for changing details on a PAN card through an offline application?
The charges applicable for PAN card correction and dispatch if you submit via offline mode is Rs.110. For international dispatches, there is an additional charge of Rs.910.
