The ease of getting a PAN card using an Aadhaar number is that you don’t need any other documents to get it. Your Aadhaar number is enough to get your PAN instantly. The process is also completely free and paperless.
Read on to learn who can apply for the instant PAN card and how to apply for it online.

a. To apply for a PAN, please visit the e-Filing website of the Income-tax department. (Url: www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in)
b. Click the link - 'Instant PAN through Aadhaar'
c. Click on - 'Get New PAN'
d. Fill in your Aadhaar in the space provided, enter captcha and confirm
e. The applicant will receive an OTP on the registered Aadhaar mobile number; submit this OTP in the text box on the webpage
f. After submission, an acknowledgement number will be generated. Please keep this acknowledgment number for future reference
g. On successful completion, a message will be sent to the applicant's registered mobile number and e-mail id (if registered in UIDAI & authenticated by OTP). This message specifies the acknowledgement number
Once you receive a confirmation message about a PAN number being allotted to you, you can go online and download your e-PAN. Here is how to do it -
a. To download PAN, please go to the e-Filing website of the Income-tax department. (Url: www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in)
b. Click the link- 'Instant PAN through Aadhaar'
c. Click the link- 'Check Status of PAN'
d. Submit the Aadhaar number in the space provided, then submit the OTP sent to the Aadhaar registered mobile number
e. Check the status of application- whether PAN is allotted or not
f. If PAN is allotted, click on the download link to get a copy of the e-PAN pdf

PAN will be allotted in near-real time using an Aadhaar-based instant PAN allotment service. You must provide a valid Aadhaar number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) that is not linked to any PAN. The Aadhaar number's e-KYC data is exchanged with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). You will be issued a PAN after the proper processing of e KYC data in the Income-tax database.
2. Is this PAN valid? Is it unique and different from the PAN acquired via other methods of application?

3. How will I receive the PAN assigned to me if I apply for an Instant PAN?

No. A person who has more than one PAN is subject to a Rs.10,000 penalty under Section 272B(1) of the Income Tax Act.
