4. What happens to a cylinder if it is damaged and needs repairing/replacing?
LPG cylinders found requiring repairs are ‘Hot Repaired’ once in its lifetime as per the ISI Code of Practice. Every ‘Hot Repaired’ cylinder is then sent for approval to use by BIS and is then brought into circulation. Any LPG cylinder that has endured one Hot Repair shall be scrapped if it is subsequently found affected. IOC specifically implements the latter and adds new LPG cylinders to cover the scrapped cylinders.
