FASTag is an easy to use and rechargeable tag which allows automatic deduction of toll charges and helps vehicles to pass through the toll plaza without waiting for any cash payments or manual intervention. FASTag is an ideal solution for people looking to have hassle-free trips, especially on national highways. FASTag is currently available at more than 420 toll plazas across various national as well as state highways. Additional toll plazas are being planned to be brought under the FASTag program in the near future.
ICICI FASTag is a small rectangular 10x5 cm tag which allows automatic deduction of toll charges at toll plazas. The device is made of high-grade paper and contains a chip and antenna inside its layers. It uses Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) technology for functioning and is directly linked to a prepaid account from which the toll amount is deducted.
With this tag affixed to any vehicle, one can pass through a toll plaza without stopping and waiting in the queue to make cash payment. After the activation of the tag account, the tag is attached to the windscreen of the vehicle. When one drives through a toll plaza using the dedicated FASTag lanes, the tag readers read the information contained in the tag and deduct the applicable toll fee.

Seeing multiple queues at toll plazas where cars would wait for their chance to pay toll charges before driving away is a common sight across India. The entire process of manual payments made with cash or card is generally very slow and could also be time-consuming. With this state of affairs, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) decided to roll out a new and innovative technology that allows making toll payments fast and easy. FASTag is a reloadable tag that allows toll charges to be deducted automatically when the car passes through the toll gate.
ICICI Bank FASTag program is designed to support the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) initiative started by NPCI under the guidelines of NHAI and IHMCL with the objective of effortless toll payments. The bank issues a compact rectangular 10x5 cm tag under this program for automatic toll collection at the toll plazas. With this facility, one can enjoy cashless payment at more than 407 toll plazas across the nation.
