The Permanent Account Number (PAN), administered by the Income Tax Department of India is a mandatory identification document for all Indian residents. It is required to be quoted to facilitate all transactions or financial activities in India. If you have applied for a new PAN application, updated your existing PAN card, or are seeking a reprint, it is important to know the PAN card status. Read on to learn different ways to track PAN card status through the NSDL and UTIITSL portals.
Follow these steps to monitor PAN card issuance status through the Protean TINPAN portal:
1. Visit the Protean PAN/TAN Application Status page.2. Select "PAN-New/Change Request" from the Application Type options.3. Input the 15-digit acknowledgement number and captcha code.
4. Click "Submit" to authenticate and ascertain your PAN card application status.In case you do not have the acknowledgement number, follow these steps to check PAN card status:
1. On the Protean portal, go to the Track PAN/TAN Application Status page.2. Select "PAN-New/Change Request" from the Application Type options.3. Choose the Name radio button and enter Last Name, First Name, Middle Name, and Date of Birth as given in the application.4. Click "Submit" to acquire an overview of the PAN card status.You can also track the PAN card application status with your name and date of birth.
Step 1: Go to the status track search Page for PAN/TAN of the TIN NSDL website.
Step 2: Select the Application Type – PAN or TAN New or Change Request and Select the radio button of Name.
Step 3: Enter the name details - Last Name, First Name and Middle Name and Date of birth/ incorporation/ agreement and submit it to receive the status.
PAN Card Status with Application Coupon Number or PAN Number:
Follow the below process to track the PAN card status via the UTI portal:
1. Visit the official UTIITSL website.
2. Go to the 'For PAN Cards' menu and select the 'Track PAN Card' option.
3. Enter either the application coupon number or the PAN Number if you have one.
4. Input the Date of Birth/Incorporation/Agreement Date and captcha code.
5. Click on "Submit" to promptly view the PAN card status.
Remember that the status will be available only after a 24-hour period after filing the application.

Step 2: Choose the "Instant e-PAN"feature located under the "Quick Links" section.
Step 3: Under the "Check Status/Download PAN" tab, click "Continue."
Step 4: Input your 12-digit Aadhaar Number and click "Continue" to proceed.
Step 5: Receive an OTP on your registered mobile number, then enter it and click "Continue."
Step 6: The screen will promptly exhibit the current status of your PAN card, derived from your Aadhaar Number.
Note: For a seamless process, make sure your mobile number is linked and active with your Aadhaar Card for OTP authentication.
1. Visit the Protean TinPan website and select 'PAN' under the 'Services' tab.
2. Click on 'Know Status of Your Credit card/Debit card/Net Banking transaction for online application'.
3. Enter Transaction Details: Input the transaction number displayed during the 'Payment through Credit card/Debit card/Net banking' process or use the 15-digit acknowledgement number received.
4. Provide the Transaction number or Acknowledgement number and Applicant's Information.
5. Enter Date Information: Depending on the type of applicant, input the relevant Date of Birth, Date of Incorporation, Date of Agreement, Date of Partnership or Trust Deed, Date of Formation of Body of Individuals, or Date of Association of Persons.
6. Initiate Status Check: Click on 'Show Status'.
7. The screen will display the transaction status, indicating whether the payment has been successfully processed or if there are any pending issues.
1. Can I request a change of PAN card delivery address online?
If you wish to change the address in the PAN card database, it can be done online through the official TIN-NSDL or UTIITSL websites. Once the application is submitted along with the payment and processed, a new PAN card will be delivered to the new address.
2. How long does it take for the PAN card application to be processed?
Normally, it takes 2 weeks for the PAN card application to be processed and dispatched from the Income Tax office.
3. How can I track the delivery of my PAN card?
Once the PAN card application is processed and dispatched, the Courier or Speed Post tracking number will be updated on the PAN tracking status. Courier or Speed Post tracking can be done through the Courier or Speed Post tracking portal.
4. Where can I find the PAN card acknowledgement number?
The PAN Card Acknowledgment Number is a unique 15-digit code, that is generated upon successful PAN application submission.
