Aadhaar serves as a single source of identity verification to avail various services, both offline and online. Since it is empowered by Biometric Fingerprint authentication, it is less prone to fraud and hacking. It helps service providers in streamlining their customer base and clearing out duplicate or fake connections.
BSNL offers a few simple ways for you to link your Aadhaar with your BSNL mobile connection. A customer can have multiple BSNL mobile connections under their name but all the connections have to be linked to their Aadhaar number. The linking can be done offline at the BSNL store, through the OTP method or through the IVR option on the BSNL customer care number.
About How To Link Aadhaar With Your BSNL Mobile Number
This method can be used by any customer wanting to link multiple BSNL connections to a single Aadhaar number. Multiple linking is not possible through the OTP or IVR method.
Step 1: Walk in to the nearest BSNL Store. Remember to carry the mobile number you want to link to Aadhaar
Step 2: Mention your BSNL number and submit a self-attested copy of Aadhaar to the store executive
Step 3: BSNL will send an OTP to your mobile number
Step 4: Submit the OTP to the store executive and verify your biometrics (fingerprint) information
Step 5: BSNL will send you an SMS confirmation in the next 24 hours. You have to reply ‘Y’ to this message to complete the linking
Step 6: You will receive an SMS confirmation once the linking is successful
This method is available for mobile numbers already registered with UIDAI under your Aadhaar number. The process is very simple.
Step 1: The Government introduced a toll-free number 14546 for Aadhaar linking - This number is common for all telecom operators, whether prepaid or postpaid connections. You have to call this number
Step 2: You will be asked to confirm whether you are an Indian citizen or an NRI
Step 3: You have to then give consent to your operator for re-verifying your number with Aadhaar
Step 4: Then enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number. The IVR will read it back and you can confirm it by pressing ‘1’
Step 5: An OTP is sent to your mobile number
Step 6: You are again asked to give consent to your operator to verify your personal details like Name, Photo and DOB from the UIDAI database
Step 7: The IVR will repeat the last 4 digits of your mobile number
Step 8: If it is correct, you need to enter the OTP received
Step 9: Press ‘0’ in case you do not have any additional BSNL connections
Step 10: Your Aadhaar re-verification request will be successfully accepted
Step 11: BSNL will send you an SMS confirmation in the next 24 hours. You have to reply ‘Y’ to this message to complete the linking
Step 12: You will receive an SMS confirmation once the linking is successful
You can easily link Aadhaar with your mobile connection by following the instructions on the BSNL Customer Care IVR. The steps are given below
Step 1: Call the BSNL toll free customer care number
Step 2: On the IVR, select the option to link Aadhaar with mobile number
Step 3: Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number. The IVR will read it back and you can confirm it by pressing ‘1’
Step 4: Within 24 hours, you will receive an SMS confirming that your Aadhaar has been linked with your BSNL number
Please note that this method too will work only if the mobile number is the one registered to your Aadhaar on the UIDAI database.
Aadhaar serves as an identity verification document for all Indians. It aims at controlling miscreants from misusing the system for fraudulent and illegal activities. It helps put a check on the black money menace that has been corroding the economy and preventing the benefits from reaching the deserved. Apart from these benefits, it also helps with the e-KYC process that is mandatory for various financial services like bank accounts, share trading, mutual fund investments and insurance policies. A mobile number linked with your Aadhaar will also help you to e-verify your Income Tax Returns without any paper documentation.
