NPS or the National Pension Scheme has garnered crores of subscribers since its launch in 2009. Managed by Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), Protean eGov Technologies Limited acts as the Central Recordkeeping Agency (CRA).

Upon opening an NPS account, the CRA issues a PRAN (Permanent Retirement Account Number) to you. You have to use this number to login on the CRA portal and manage your NPS account.

Check Your NPS Account Balance Through Mobile App?

Subscribers can choose from 2 different mobile apps to access their NPS Account balance.

1. NPS by Protean app

- Install the app and login using your PRAN number and password.

- Once logged in, you can access the ‘Holding Statement’ of your NPS account to check the number of units in your NPS account.

- It will show both the no. of units and your total NPS investment value.

2. UMANG App

- UMANG app is a multi-featured app from the Govt. of India and serves various service providers like EPFO, Aadhaar, Indian Railways, NPS, Bharat Gas, and many more.

- Once you have downloaded and installed the app, go to the NPS services section, use your PRAN number to access your account.

- Here, you can check the holding statement, the no. of units under your account, the total value of your investment, and more.

Check your NPS Balance on the NPS CRA Portal

As mentioned above, Protean eGov Technologies Limited acts as the CRA for NPA account management. You can login to their NPS Portal to access a host of account related services.

- Login to the NPS CRA NSDL portal using your PRAN number and password.

- Click on ‘Transaction Statement’ from the top menu bar, and select ‘Holding Statement’.

- It will show the no. of units under your account and the total investment value.

Check your NPS Balance through the NPS Trust Portal

NPS also has a portal called NPS Trust. Login with your PRAN number and password. You can here check your holding statement and NPS Account balance.

Finding Your NPS Balance Through Annual And Monthly Statements

- Apart from the above methods, subscribers are also sent monthly and annual statements from the Protean CRA. You can find your NPS balance on these statements.

- If you hold a demat account, your CSDL or NSDL repository sends out a monthly or annual statement of all your investments. You can add NPS to this statement and the statements will reflect your NPS balance too.

- If you have not yet opted for email statements, you can login to the Protean NSDL e_Gov portal and register for email alerts.

How to Check My NPS Account Balance Instantly?

Now, in case one is in a rush to log in to these apps or the portal just to check the NPS balance, then there is a missed call-based service for an instant balance check.

For this, you should have registered for the ‘Missed Call Alerts’ under your Protean NPS CRA portal account. Once registered, you can give a missed call to 18002100080. You will get an automated return call that will give you your NPS account balance.

1. What are the login parameters I need to login to my NPS account?

Whether you are logging in on the eNPS portal, the NPS app, or the UMANG app, your PRAN number is the primary login parameter. You may get an OTP on the registered mobile number to authenticate your login.

2. Is it ok to have multiple NPS accounts?

No, one PAN card holder, one individual can only hold one NPS account.

3. How long will it take for my contribution to reflect on the NPS statement?

Contributions typically take up to 3 (T+2) working days to reflect on the statement.

4. Is my NPS statement and EPF statement the same?

No, NPS and EPFO are two different entities. They are completely different investments.

5. What is the NAV I see on my NPS statement?

NAV, or Net Asset Value, is the price of one unit of a fund under your NPS account. The investment money is used to buy units of market instruments that are credited to your account.
