The GPay limit for fund transfers in India in 2024 is Rs. 1,00,000. When you are registering as a first-time user after downloading Google Pay, the first transaction limit on Google Pay is Rs. 1,00,000. However, if you have changed your phone, mobile number, or UPI PIN, you can transfer a maximum of Rs. 5,000 for the first 24 hours. Moreover, to ensure set up completion, you may have to transfer Rs. 1 to Google Pay just after the initial setup. This will be refunded back to your account later.

Within 24 hours, you can transmit money only for a maximum of 10 times in GPay or any other UPI app. If you wish to send more money or conduct a greater number of transactions, you will have to wait for the 24 hour time period to get over. GPay allows you to request a maximum limit of Rs. 2000 in a day via the Virtual Payment Address (VPA) in UPI to avoid any kind of cyber fraud.

UPI Limit Per Day Across UPI Apps

  • The limit per day across all UPI apps is Rs. 1,00,000.
  • The GPay limit per day also depends on other UPI transfers you have done in a day. For example: Say you are sending Rs. 20,000 through an UPI app on a particular day, then your Google Pay transfer limit for that day will now be Rs. 80,000.
  • Apart from the money transfer limit on UPI transactions, the NPCI has also established a cap on the maximum number of UPI transactions for each day.
  • As per the new NPCI regulations, a person can do up to 20 transactions in a day. this, they have to wait for 24 hours to start transacting again.

Disclaimer: The transaction limits can vary depending on different banks.

Google Pay as a Payment Method for Customers

To offer Google Pay as a payment method for customers, you can follow these general steps:

  • Verify if Google Pay is compatible with the platform: Make sure that your merchant platform supports Google Pay.
  • Merchant Account and Payment Gateway: Make sure that the payment gateway of your merchant account supports Google Pay. Common payment gateways, such as Stripe, Braintree, and others often offer support for Google Pay.
  • Integrate Google Pay API with the merchant platform: Link the Google Pay API to your mobile app or website
  • User Authentication and Security: Google Pay transactions are highly safe and secure as they use tokenization to improve security. Ensure that the payment is made securely by enabling user validation.
  • Compliance: Ensure that your payment process complies with appropriate regulations and standards.
  • Provide Customer Support: Customer support is very important for any process. So, provide the best customer support for Google Pay transactions. This will involve resolving all queries and problems that the customer may face during the process.
  • Monitor and Update: Regularly watch the performance of Google Pay transactions and update your integration as needed. Stay informed about any changes to the Google Pay API or other appropriate technologies.

How to Increase the Google Pay Transaction Limit?

Follow the steps below to increase the Google Pay transaction limit.

Step 1: verify the identity by filling in the necessary details and documents.

Step 2: integrate your bank account and your Google Pay account.

Step 3: Request an increase in limit via the Gpay app or website.

Step 4: A Google representative will aid you with the same.

How to Request a Credit Limit Increase on Google Pay

To increase your credit limit or have the same credit limit as the current one, you can contact Google Pay in the following ways:

  • Reply to the warning email you have received on credit limit for exceeding the credit limit or transfer amount in a day. This email is sent if you are an authorized payment user and have chosen to receive emails regarding your payments.
  • Contact your Google representative

The Google Pay credit team reviews each request received on a case to case basis. You may be required to provide additional documents such as

  • Audited financial statements
  • Bank guarantees
  • Spending projections.

The process may vary depending on the country you reside in, the policies of Google Pay, and the bank you are associated with.

Can You Exceed the GPay Transaction Limit?

At present, there is no proven or straightforward method to increase the UPI transaction limit on Google Pay. But, if you are a business owner who counts on UPI to make and receive payments, you can email Google Pay’s customer support with a logical and strong reason to increase the limit.
