A car insurance policy is usually valid for a period of one year and has to be renewed before the due date. All you have to do is pay the premiums on time. Generally, most insurance companies offer a grace period for paying the premium at the end of the one-year period. If you don't pay the premium within this period, it would lapse and your vehicle needs to be inspected before you purchase/renew the next plan.
Similarly, if your comprehensive policy has lapsed for more than 90 days then the accrued benefit of no claim bonus cannot be claimed.
Traditional car insurance will last for a minimum of twelve months depending on what kind of policy you buy. You can however choose to extend the term of the policy depending upon the type of policy you want. Your payment due date is majorly dependent on the policy tenure.
All payments will depend on the date when the policy first started unless other alterations are made.
