If you are looking to apply for an SBI credit card, salary is just one of the eligibility criteria to look for. There are other factors like age, employment type, and credit score.
In general, not just for SBI Credit Cards, when you apply for any credit card, a minimum monthly salary of Rs.15,000 is required. This is the lowest salary expected for the most basic credit cards. As your income increases, you will be eligible for better credit cards with better features. Therefore, the minimum income category cards are most basic and don’t offer much benefits to the user.
Other criteria to apply for an SBI Credit Card are –
- Should be an Indian citizen or NRI
- You should be in the age of 21-60 years
- You should have a credit score of 700 or above
- Should have a regular source of income – either salaried or self-employed
Apart from these, you will be required to submit documentary proof for your ID and residential address. Your PAN card will have to be submitted too. Many lenders are also insisting on your Aadhaar copy to process your application.
A credit card is a risky credit option. With high credit limits, one may get complacent and end up raking up a high debt. It is prudent to utilize your credit limit in accordance with your monthly income. Also, try and repay the bill in full every month so that you don’t end up with a high interest (credit cards charge 30-45% per annum)
