Credit card issuers allow you to convert your purchases into to equated monthly instalments (EMI). However, every purchase would not be possible to be converted. One must check whether the credit card you use has the EMI option and moreover, if the particular product you purchase can be bought in EMI.
On the process of splitting the payment, the credit card issuer might charge a certain interest rate which would range up to 3 percentage. If you are looking for an EMI option with no interest charges, a credit card might not be a good option.
Finally, if you are looking to pay off the amount in 5 EMIs while the credit card EMI option is available only for 10 EMIs, then it would not be a viable option as there would be more outgo on the interest payment. Hence calculate all the charges incurred in purchasing a product using credit card EMI option.
