According to the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, A driving license is a mandatory legal document for driving on Indian roads. In India, a driving license is issued by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) or Regional Transport Authority (RTA) of each state. If you want a driving license, you need to apply for a driving license, pay the required fees, and clear the test. Also, first-time driving learners should apply for a learning driving license. Your learner’s license permit is valid only for six months, after that, you have to appear for a driving test to obtain a permanent one. The following are the steps to apply for a driving license in India
Step 1: Go to the website parivahan.gov
Step 2: Choose the online services tab and click on the "Driving License Related Services" option.
Step 3: Choose the State from which you wish to apply.
Step 4: Click on the "Apply for Driving License" option.
Step 5: Complete the applicant details.
Step 6: Upload scanned copies of the required documents.
Step 7: Pay the application fee.
Step 8: Book a slot for a driving license test
Step 9: Go for the test as per the schedule.
Step 10: The DL will be delivered to the applicant's doorstep if they pass the test.
After making the appointment, you should be present at the RTO along with all the original documents specified in the application form. The RTO officer will verify the provided information. Next, you are required to take the driving test. You will get the license only if you complete the driving test.
