The credit card billing cycle is the period for which your credit card statement has been generated. It is a record of all the transactions that were done during this period. For instance, suppose your credit card bill is generated every 29th of the month, this means that your billing cycle will start from the 30th of the previous month and will continue to the 29th of the current month. During this period, every transaction made using your credit card will get reflected in the credit card statement for the month. This is inclusive of credit card payments, refunds, payments via credit cards, withdrawals (If any), cashbacks, and continuing EMIs on your credit cards. A normal billing cycle period ranges between 27-31 days.
2. How is the credit card payment due date computed?
The credit card payment due date usually varies between 18 to 21 days from the billing date. It means that the customer gets 18 to 21 days to make the payment of the amount due billed to him in his statement. To check the due date for your credit card, see the date corresponding to Remember to Pay specified in your credit card statement.

Read moreVisa has launched CVV-free tokenized transactions for domestic payments in India to make online transactions smoother and safer. This feature will make online transactions quicker, secure, and hassle-free for Visa users. CVV-free tokenization enables customers to make online transactions without having to enter their CVV every time. Merchants and acquirers have to collect the CVV during the initial token provisioning transactions, but they can stop doing so during the ensuing token-based domestic CNP transactions. In tokenisation, the card details of the customer are replaced by a unique code called the token. Due to this, transactions are safer as merchants save only the token and not the card details. The token is authenticated twice, once at the time of tokenisation and then again at the time of putting the OTP, thus making it highly secure for customers to make online transactions.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has told banks and credit card issuers that they can charge late payment fees only after three days following a missed payment. So, you can make the payment within three days of the due date and avoid late payment fee. Further, your credit score will most probably not get impacted if you clear payments within the mentioned time limit. A late payment fee will be charged only if the cardholder fails to clear dues even post 3 days past the due date.
