What is a Personal Loan?

Personal loans are one of the easiest and the quickest form of cash loans available in the market for the customers to take care of their immediate financial needs with easy and affordable repayment options. The purpose of such personal loans can be anything like a wedding in the family or a medical emergency or travel or any other even purchase of some household commodity/durable, etc.

Details of Central Bank of India Personal Loans

Central Bank of India has a huge variety of personal loans that the customers can choose from to meet their personal genuine requirements depending on the best scheme that is applicable to them. The bank also has separate personal loan schemes for pensioners and family pensioners as well as NRIs to enable them to meet their urgent personal requirements. Some of the types of personal loans offered by the bank to all the customers are Cent Personal Loan Schemes, Cent Personal Gold Loan, Cent Liquid Scheme, NRI Rupee Loans, Cent OD facility to Pensioners and Cent Pensioners. Some of the details of these loans are mentioned below.

Cent personal Loan to Pensioners:

  • The purpose of these loans is to meet any kind of personal expenses or immediate medical expenses or any other expenses of the customer.
  • The applicants eligible for such loans are any permanent employees of Central/ State Government, Government Institutions, Railways, schools, colleges, Hospitals, etc., having completed 1 year of service. The permanent employees of private or multinational companies are also eligible for such loans provided they have completed 3 years of service.
  • The maximum amount of loan that can be disbursed in this type of loan is Rs. 10,00,000 with a repayment period of a maximum of 4 years.
  • The applicants have to visit the official website of the bank or contact the customer care service of the bank to get the details of the rate of interest charged on such loans as well as any extra charges that may be levied by the bank as per their policies or guidelines.

Cent Personal Gold Loan:

  • The central bank of India personal loans (maximum 1 year) against pledge of gold ornaments (22-carat purity or gold coins) for any personal requirements of the applicants other than agricultural purposes.
  • The applicants can visit the official website of the bank or contact the customer care service of the bank for the details of the rate of interest charged on such loans, the margin required, and the maximum amount of loan that can be disbursed in each case.
  • The bank charges a nominal fee of 0.5% of the loan amount excluding tax other than the Appraiser fee as applicable.

Cent Liquid Scheme:

  • Another form of personal loans that the bank offers is against the shares and debentured owned by the customer.
  • The maximum amount of the loan that can be disbursed in this scheme is Rs. 20,00,000 and for a maximum period of 12 months or on-demand (whichever is earlier).

Cent OD facility to Pensioners:

  • Central Bank of India provides easy loans to the senior citizens for any of their personal needs other than speculation of any kind or real estate investment.
  • The eligible applicants are the pensioners or family pensioners drawing their pension from any of the branches of the bank.
  • The loan is in the nature  of OD facility with a maximum amount of Rs. 10,00,000 that can be disbursed in such a scheme for a maximum period of 60 months (5 years) and also requires a co-borrower (spouse/legal heir) for such loan.

Cent Pensioners:

  • The other form of loans available to the senior citizens is a short term loan offered by the bank wherein the eligible applicants are the pensioners having their pension account with any of the branches of the bank as well as those who get their pension though Treasury or Defence Pension Disbursing Office (DPDO) directly with any of the branches of the bank.
  • The maximum loan amount disbursed is dependent on the age of the applicant i.e.,

For a pensioner above 75 years, the maximum loan amount disbursed is 18 month’s pension or Rs. 5,00,000, whichever is higher.

For a pensioner up to 75 years, the maximum loan amount disbursed is 12 month’s pension or Rs. 2,00,000, whichever is higher.

Apart from the above loans, Central Bank of India also provides loans to its NRI customers for any personal or business needs. The details of the same are available at the bank’s official website. Central Bank of India Grievance Redressal Procedure

The central bank of India has a separate portal for the customers to register their complaints online. They have categorized the complainants into 3 categories of customers for easy redressal process namely existing customers, new/walk-in customers, and pensioners. Customers can also check the status of their complaints online by quoting their complaint reference number generated at the initial stage of registering a complaint. The customers can register their complaints by calling the toll free number as well as by visiting the branch or emailing the same at complaints[at]centralbank[dot]co[dot]in.

The customers have to duly fill the complaint form and register the complaint. They will receive an acknowledgment for the same and a reference number that has to be mentioned in all future interactions.

There are five levels of escalation of the complaint within the bank.

  • At the first level, the complaint is first brought to the notice of the Branch Manager for immediate redressal.
  • In case no reply is received in 5 days or a satisfactory reply is not received, the customer can contact the Regional Office.
  • In case no reply is received in 10 working days or the reply is unsatisfactory, the customer can contact the Zonal Office for redressal.
  • The customer can further contact the Central office if he/she does not receive a reply in 15 working days or if the reply from the Zonal Office is unsatisfactory.
  • The next stage of escalation is a communication to the CCSO at the following address,
