If you’re an SBI account holder, you’ve likely heard of the CIF Number. It’s a crucial identifier that plays an important role in managing your banking needs. Whether you’re transferring your account, accessing digital banking services, or linking new accounts, your CIF Number is indispensable. But what exactly is a CIF Number, and how can you find it? Let’s break it down.

What Is a CIF Number?

CIF, or Customer Information File, is a distinctive 11-digit number allocated by the bank to each customer. It serves as a unique identifier, akin to a digital fingerprint, encompassing all your banking-related details such as:

  • Your account type and transaction history.

  • Personal details like your name, address, and KYC (Know Your Customer) information.

  • Details about linked accounts, loans, fixed deposits, and more.

Unlike your account number, which may change if you switch branches, your CIF Number remains the same. This makes it a consistent identifier, ensuring smooth access to your banking data no matter where you bank.
