It could take about a week to transfer the home branch. You can check the status of the transfer on your SBI Online Banking portal or the SBI YONO app.

Required Documents for Changing Your Home Branch

The bank might ask you to submit your latest KYC Documents to initiate the transfer of your SBI Account to a different branch. They might ask for all or one of the below documents copy.

  • Aadhaar card or PAN card for Identity proof

  • Utility bill or rental agreement as Address proof

  • Passbook or latest Account statement

Impact on ECS & Standing Instructions

Will there be any Impact on my existing ECS and Standing Instructions due to the transfer of my SBI Account to a different branch?

Though the account number and CIF (Customer Information File) stay the same after a transfer, since the IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) is branch-specific, it could become different.

  • Inform institutions such as mutual funds (for dividends) and the income tax department (for refunds) about the new IFSC code to ensure continued services.

  • It might be necessary to update current standing instructions and ECS to reflect the new IFSC code. To prevent any problems, it is necessary that these details are updated with the respective institutions.

  • After the branch transfer, verify that your ECS and standing instructions have been updated correctly.

  • Proactively inform any entities that regularly interact with your account, such as loan providers or utility companies, about the change in the IFSC code.
