UPI, i.e., Unified Payments Interface is a payment technology developed by the NPCI. It enables users to send and receive payments directly from their bank accounts. Conducting online transactions has become a breeze while using UPI for money transfers.

However, there can be some limits on the UPI transactions that you can make in a day or a month, depending on your bank. If you are an HDFC customer, you can also face such limits.

Fortunately, there are some steps you can take to increase your HDFC UPI limit.

UPI Transaction Limit

Every month in India, UPI transactions are setting new records thanks to its easy money transfer system. To manage the growth of India's digital payment system, NPCI has created several rules. They have announced a daily limit of Rs. 1 lakh for individual UPI transfers. However, HDFC Bank has its own separate limits for UPI transactions for its customers.

What is the HDFC UPI Limit Per Day?

You can transfer up to Rs. 1 lakh per day or make 20 transactions (whichever you reach first) with HDFC UPI, for both sending money to people and paying merchants. This applies to all UPI apps.

For the first day after signing up for UPI on Android, you can only transfer up to Rs. 5,000. For iPhones, this limit lasts for 72 hours.

If you use up your daily limit, you will have to wait till the next day to do more transactions.

What is the HDFC UPI Limit Per Month?

HDFC Bank doesn't have a monthly or yearly limit on UPI transactions. But, to avoid any issues, remember the daily limit. It's also a good idea to check HDFC Bank's website for any updates to these limits.

HDFC UPI Limit for Different Uses

  • Person to Person (P2P) and Person to Merchant (P2M) transactions: You can transfer up to Rs. 1 lakh per day or make 20 transactions (whichever you reach first).

  • Capital markets and Merchant transactions (Eg: AMC, Broking, Mutual Funds, Credit card payments, Loan re-payments, EMI, etc.): The maximum limit per transaction is Rs. 2 lakhs.

How to Increase the HDFC UPI Limit?

HDFC Bank lets you transfer up to Rs. 1 lakh per day using UPI. But for new users, the limit is only Rs. 5,000 for the first day. There's no option to raise this limit yourself. However, a recent RBI notification allows UPI payments up to Rs. 5 lakh for school fees and hospital bills.

UPI makes online transactions easy and secure nationwide. All banks have UPI limits to manage the growing digital payment system. HDFC Bank doesn't let you manually increase the limit. Now that you know HDFC's UPI limits, plan your transactions to avoid any problems.
