Banks to Facilitate Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Facility
While there are lot of arguments going on about making Aadhaar card compulsory for various verification processes, it is now the most preferred option as it simplifies the procedure.
Government has now asked all the banks including private sector lenders to provide Aadhaar enrolment and update facility to their customers within their branches. The accounts which are not updated by Dec 31 of 2017 with Aadhaar number will be blocked and the customer must open a new account.
Aadhaar card enrolment has been made mandatory following the amendment of ‘The Prevention of Money Laundering Act' by the Finance Ministry.
How to Update Your Aadhaar Number with Your Bank Account?
All the banks offer online update facility. You can follow the below steps to do it.

• Click on Link Aadhar Card details and it will open an online form
• Enter the details in the relevant fields and complete the process
For offline process, you need to carry your bank passbook, Aadhaar card and its photocopy to the bank for updating your Aadhar number.
Many customers face difficulties in online linkage due to the discrepancies like incorrect names, errors in address, date of birth etc. Hence the banks are told to provide the updating facility within their premises. After furnishing the supportive documents, the customers can resolve such problems by visiting their branches.
Aadhaar Enrollment
Customers who do not have an Aadhar Card can enroll for one within the bank premises and update the unique identification number with their bank account. For enrollment, you need to carry the required supportive documents for identity, date of birth and address proof verification.
Earlier, only public-sector banks could provide Aadhar enrolment facility, but after Aadhar Regulation 2016, all scheduled banks can be UIDAI registrars and give enrolment facilities to their customers. You need to carry the required supportive documents for identity, date of birth and address proof verification.
While 88 percentage of the Indian population already has Aadhaar card, it is everyone's moral duty to update it with their bank account to prevent money laundering activities.
