The Aadhar card is an important proof of identity for residents of India. It contains a 12-digit unique identification number provided by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). It is necessary to update your Aadhar card details in case of any changes to maintain its accuracy and reflect your current address.
There can be many reasons like relocating, spelling, or pincode errors, which can lead to a requirement of change in address. You can do this using 3 methods:

Proof of Address
There are two ways to update your Aadhaar address: online or in person. If you prefer to update online, you'll find the Aadhaar Card Address Change Form on the myAadhaar portal. Otherwise, you can visit a registered centre and fill out a physical form to complete the update.
The aadhar card address change online process is as below:
1. Visit the My Aadhaar Portal:
Go to the official UIDAI portal: https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
2. Log in to your account:
Enter your Aadhaar number and registered mobile number. Click on "Login with aadhar and OTP" to get a one-time password on your phone. Enter the OTP and click "Login".
3. Navigate to Address Update:
Once logged in, you should see various options. Find the section for "Address Update" .
4. Choose Online Update:
There might be options for both online and offline updates. Select "Update Aadhaar Online"to go ahead with the online address change process.
5. Review the Update Process (Optional):
You can be directed to a page explaining the online update process. This is optional, but it's a good idea to read it to understand the steps involved and not make any mistakes.
6. Initiate Address Update:
Click on Click on "Proceed to Update Aadhaar" to begin the online address update process
7. Enter New Address Details:
Enter your new address details, including house number/name, street, locality, village/town, district, state, and PIN code.
8. Upload Address Proof:
Scan and upload a clear, coloured copy of a document as proof of your new address. Refer to the list of accepted documents mentioned earlier to ensure you have the right one.
9. Pay the Fee (if applicable):
There might be a nominal fee (Rs. 50) associated with updating your Aadhaar address online. If applicable, you will be prompted to make the payment before proceeding.
10. Submit the Update Request:
Once you've reviewed all the information and uploaded the documents, submit the update request.
11. Track Update Status:
You will receive an Update Request Number (URN) or Service Request Number (SRN) for tracking the status of your address update. You can use this number to check the progress on the UIDAI website.
The mAadhaar app currently does not allow updating demographic details like name, date of birth, and mobile number. However, you can use it to initiate an address change by submitting a document for verification. Here's what you need to do:
1. Download and Install mAadhaar App:
Install the mAadhaar app on your phone from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
2. Register or Login:
Register with your Aadhaar number and registered mobile number. You'll receive an OTP for verification.
3. Access Update Address Option:
Once logged in, navigate to the section for updating your Aadhaar information. This might be labelled "Update Address" or "Update Demographics" (depending on the app version).
4. Enter New Address Details:
Carefully enter your new address details, including house number/name, street, locality, village/town, district, state, and PIN code.
5. Upload Address Proof:
Scan and upload a copy of a document as proof of your new address. Refer to the list of accepted documents mentioned earlier (passport, bank statement, etc.).
6. Submit Update Request:
Once you've reviewed all the information and uploaded the document, submit the update request. You will receive an Update Request Number (URN) for tracking the status.
7. Track Update Status:
Use the URN to track the progress of your address update request within the mAadhar app itself. There might be an option for "Track Aadhaar Update Status" or a similar one.
