Aadhaar card name change is a demographic data update, which could arise due to life-changing events such as marriage or divorce, errors made during the enrolment process, the need to revise the name in the local language preferred by the native speaker, etc. Let us now continue to read to understand the process of Aadhaar Card Name Change.
Currently, you cannot change the name on the Aadhaar online. That option has been removed. Now, you can go to the Aadhaar enrolment centre and place the request for name change. At the enrolment centre, UIDAI has made it easy for Aadhaar card holders to place the request by appointing operators to assist with the process. This is called the assisted mode of updation. The UIDAI has currently come up with 2 modes for Aadhaar card name change (Applicable for all other demographic, biometric, and local language updates as well) under the assisted mode. They are as follows:
a) Update Client Standard
b) Update Client Lite (UCL)
You can download the form that must be filled and submitted for Aadhaar card name change from the UIDAI website. Fill in the Pre-Enrolment ID (If applicable), Aadhaar Number or (UID), and only the full name field which requires updation. Tick the name checkbox. (The options include name, date of birth, address, gender, email, and biometric update (Photo + Fingerprint + Iris)).
